The Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL is pleased to announce it has received three grants totaling more than $31,000. The grants will be used to purchase nearly 335,000 pads, which will be provided to women and girls in need across Collier and Lee counties.

The Alliance for Period Supplies received a $18,144 grant from the Community Trust Fund of the League Club. This grant will be used to purchase 195,096 pads, which will provide a three-month supply of period products to more than 2,500 women in Southwest Florida.

The organization also received an $8,000 grant from the West Bay Community Charitable Foundation, which will allow the Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL to purchase 86,022 pads. Additionally, the Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL received a $5,000 grant from Swinging with Purpose. This grant will allow the organization to purchase 53,753 pads for women and girls in need.

“We are grateful for the support of the Community Trust Fund of the League Club, the West Bay Community Charitable Foundation and Swinging with Purpose,” said Dusti Beaubien, the president and founder of the Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL. “These generous grants will allow us to continue our work to end period poverty in Southwest Florida and ensure that a period is the end of a sentence, not a girl’s education or a woman’s ability to work.”

One in four women struggled to buy period products within the past year because of a lack of income. The inability to access period supplies can force women to use rages, socks or paper products, which can lead to infection and create anxiety.

The Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL is the only organization in the region consistently providing period products to women and girls in Collier and Lee counties. Since it was founded in 2019, the organization has distributed more than 985,000 pads to women and girls in need.

Through partnerships with agencies throughout Collier and Lee counties, APS of SWFL distributes period supplies at 150 locations and serves about 5,000 financially challenged women and girls with an annual year’s supply of period products.
