Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL receives three grants from Community Foundation for $14,500

The Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL is pleased to announce it has received three grants totaling $14,500 from the Community Foundation of Collier County. The grants will support the organization’s mission of providing free period products to financially challenged women and girls in Southwest Florida.

The Alliance for Period Supplies received a $2,500 capacity grant, matching donations from the Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL Board of Directors. This grant will allow the organization to create a two-year strategic plan focused on development, marketing and communications.

The Community Foundation of Collier County granted the Alliance of Period Supplies of SWFL with a $7,000 operational grant. This grant will support the organization’s operations, ensuring it can continue its mission.

The Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL also received a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Collier County’s Angel Fund. This grant will allow the Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL to purchase 50,000 pads, providing 2,083 Southwest Florida women and girls with a dignified and worry-free cycle.

“We appreciate the Community Foundation of Collier County’s support for our mission to end period poverty in our communities,” said Dusti Beaubien, the president of the Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL. “These grants will allow us to continue to shine a light on this important and overlooked women’s health care issue. A period should end a sentence not a girl’s education or a woman’s ability to work.”

The Community Foundation of Collier County awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. Selected organizations receive grant dollars from the Changing Needs Fund. This Fund is made up of donors who believe in the Community Foundation’s ability to identify and grant to the most community’s most current needs

The Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL is the only organization in the region consistently providing period products to women and girls in Collier and Lee counties. Since it was founded in 2019, the organization has distributed more than 1.7 million pads to women and girls in need.

Through partnerships with agencies throughout Collier and Lee counties, APS of SWFL distributes period supplies at 160 locations and serves about 3,500 financially challenged women and girls with an annual year’s supply of period products.
