Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL is thrilled to announce it is the recipient of a $7,500 grant from the United Church of Christ Marco Island. These funds will be dedicated to purchasing essential period products for menstruators in Collier County, ensuring that 242 women and girls who cannot afford period products have the resources they need for one whole year.
This grant supports our ongoing mission to improve the health and well-being of underserved residents in our community. Lack of access to period products is a barrier that many women and girls face, leading to missed school or workdays and negatively impacting their education and livelihoods. With this funding, we will be able to provide necessary supplies to help eliminate this obstacle, promoting both physical health and emotional security.
“We are incredibly grateful to the United Church of Christ in Marco Island for their support,” said Dusti Beaubien, President and Founder of Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL. “They recognize that period poverty is a critical issue that is often overlooked due to the stigma associated with menstruation. Having access to period products is essential for lifting women and girls out of poverty.”
Providing free period products to those who cannot afford this basic necessity is essential for their health, education, work commitments, and overall well-being, and it plays a critical role in promoting gender equality and social equity.
“No woman should have to miss work and a day’s wage, or a student miss school or feel uncomfortable, because they cannot afford basic necessities,” added Beaubien. “By supporting this initiative, we are helping to create a more equitable environment where all women can thrive.”
